FrequencyWireless mics operate on either VHF or UHF frequencies. VHF is typically used in low cost wireless mic systems and is more likely to suffer signal interference. UHF systems are typically less susceptible to interference.

Selectable Frequencies – Many frequencies that wireless mics use are being occupied by television stations. Selectable frequencies let you change the channel to a frequency no one else is using, allowing you to get a clear signal with no interference. It also allows you to use multiple wireless mics in the same area. We recommend buying a wireless system with as many frequencies as possible.

Automatic Frequency Scanning – Automatic frequency scanning works like the scan button on your radio. An automatic frequency scanner searches for a frequency without interference. This works in conjuntion with selectable channels (see left). This allows you to scan all of your system’s channels in seconds, quickly finding the clearest one!

True Diversity – A true diversity reciever has 2 independent radio receivers with dual antennas. A comparison circuit in the reciever constantly monitors which antenna is getting the strongest signal and utilizes that receiver. This feature is important for consistent audio that doesn’t drop out when the microphone is moving.

Transmitter Power – The signal strength of a wireless mic is measured in milliwatts (mW). A higher number of mW gives you a clearer signal that transmits further. The average working distance for a 10mW transmitter is 200ft while a 20-30mW transmitter will transmit 50% further or more.
